Why Do a Kindness Challenge?

In our society there is so much emphasis placed on relationship building that it can become exhaustive. Team building exercises at work, group projects at school, corporate retreats and so many other activities prioritize interpersonal connections. While this is essential to many organizations now, it can begin to feel disingenuous when you are constantly participating in relationship building exercises because you have to and not because you want to. Doing a kindness challenge is a way to regain motivation to be kind to others, which will automatically improve a person’s interpersonal skills. Forcing yourself to move outside of your comfort zone to intentionally be kind is an opportunity to learn how to be more supportive, improve listening skills, and become better at conflict resolution.

“Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.”

– Mark Twain
